Frequently asked questions
Can OpenStack replace the public cloud?
In many cases, yes. OpenStack works well where data control, predictable cost and consistent workloads are key. For projects requiring global coverage or hundreds of PaaS/IaaS services, a hybrid with public vendor services is sometimes optimal.
What is the approximate implementation time?
Piloting (PoC) typically takes 2-4 weeks. Production deployment - 8-12 weeks, depending on network complexity, storage and security requirements. For larger scale projects, we plan for phasing.
What are the minimum hardware requirements?
We recommend at least 3 control nodes (HA) + compute nodes, fast NVMe drives, redundant network connections and power supply. We prepare the specific sizing after a short workshop.
Do you assist with updates (upgrades)?
Yes. We plan and implement upgrades to new OpenStack releases, including database migrations, API compatibility and service windows. We also prepare rollbacks and post-upgrade tests.
What does support and SLA look like?
We offer different SLA levels (e.g. 8/5, 24/7). We agree on response/repair times, on-call coverage, access to the procedure catalogue and quarterly reports. For critical environments, we recommend 24/7 active monitoring.
Do you integrate Kubernetes with OpenStack?
Yes. We build K8s clusters on VM (or via Magnum), integrate networks (CNI), volumes (CSI), image registries, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) and monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana, Loki).
What about security and compliance?
We apply hardening, segmentation, IAM/Keystone policies, encryption of data at rest and in transit, backups and restore tests. We prepare documentation and recommendations for audits.
Will you help with migration to/from public environments?
Yes. We design cut-over paths and data synchronisation. We minimise downtime, test restoration and verify performance after migration.

Mostly fixed-price for stages (workshop, design, implementation) and subscription for maintenance/SLA. For R&D - time & materials with clearly defined backlog and targets.
Do you train in the use of OpenStack?
Yes, we provide training for administrators and users. We provide materials, step-by-step instructions and good practices.
What automation tools do you use?
Most commonly Ansible, Terraform, Kolla-Ansible, and for CI/CD GitLab CI/GitHub Actions. We tailor the choice of tools to the client's standards.
Do you assist with monitoring and backups?
